Day 1 : Arrival in Paro

Elevation: 2200 mts

  • Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by stunning views of the Himalayas.
  • At the exit point you will be received by our seasoned guide with our traditional scarf and drive to your designated hotel in Paro, check in, and have refreshments or breakfast.
  • Visit Kyichu Temple, a serene 7th-century Buddhist temple considered one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. Take in the peaceful atmosphere and admire the intricate architectural details.
  • Visit Drukgyel Dzong, a historic fortress that once defended Bhutan against Tibetan invasions. Learn about its rich history and significance.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then take a leisurely walk through the picturesque farm fields of Paro, immersing yourself in the rural landscape and experiencing the local way of life.
  • Explore Dungtse Lhakhang, known for its unique architecture and beautiful murals.
  • Discover the historic Paro Rinpung Dzong, a stunning fortress-monastery that overlooks the Paro valley. Explore the intricate woodwork, beautiful murals, and learn about its role in Bhutanese history and culture.
  • Return to your hotel in Paro to relax and unwind after a day of sightseeing.
  • Spend the evening at your leisure, perhaps reflecting on your adventures or enjoying a peaceful evening in Paro.

Day 2 : Hike to Tiger's Nest

Elevation: 3120 mts

Walking Hours: 5– 6hrs (back & forth)

  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel to fuel up for the acclimatization hike and drive in preparation for the trek, the next day.
  • Head northwest out of Paro for a memorable hike to the iconic Paro Taktsang, also known as the ‘Tiger’s Nest Monastery’. This legendary monastery clings to a sheer cliff face, offering breathtaking views of the Paro Valley below.
  • The hike takes about 5 to 6 hours round trip, depending on your pace and rest stops along the way. Be prepared for a challenging yet rewarding trek through lush forests and steep terrain. Take your time to soak in the stunning scenery and marvel at the architectural wonder of the monastery as you approach it.
  • Have a delicious lunch at the Tiger’s nest cafeteria with the breathtaking tiger’s nest view at the background.
  • After completing the hike, drive to Chele La Pass. Chele La is one of the highest motorable mountain passes in Bhutan, situated at an altitude of approximately 3,988 meters above sea level. You can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountain range, including the majestic Mount Jomolhari. The pass is about 36 kilometers from Paro.
  • Return to your hotel for a well-deserved rest. Enjoy a delicious dinner at your hotel, savoring the flavors of Bhutanese cuisine. Rest and relax, reflecting on the incredible experience of hiking to Tiger’s Nest.
Day 3: Jele Dzong - Jangchulakha

Elevation: 3770 mts

Distance & Walking Hours: 10 Km, 3-4hrs

  • The trek starts with a steep climb lasting about an hour and a half, followed by a gradual ascent.
  • The trail winds through dense alpine forests and rhododendron groves, eventually crossing the Jele La pass at 3,490m. Keep an eye out for yaks and Himalayan Monal Pheasants near your campsite.
  • You'll spend the night at a camp situated at an altitude of 3,770 mts.
Day 4 : Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso

Distance: 11 kilometers

Walking Time: 6 -7 hours

Highlights :

• The trail leads through dwarf rhododendron trees and then passes by Jichu Drake (6989m).

• Overnight: Camp at Jimilangtso (3880m).

Day 5: Jangchulakha – Jimilang Tsho

Elevation: 3870 mts

Distance & Walking Hours: 11 Km, 4hrs

  • The trail runs along the ridge, offering sensational views of the mountains and beautiful valley.
  • You'll be treated to a spectacular sight of Mount Jichu Drake (6,989m), the peak that symbolizes Paro's protective deity.
  • Our campsite is situated near the Jimilangtsho lakes, renowned for their giant trout.
  • You will spend the night at this scenic camp situated at an altitude of 3870 mts.
Day 6: Jimilang Tsho - Labana

Elevation: 3880 mts – 4120 mts

Distance & Walking Hours: 15 Km, 6-7 hrs

  • Begin your trek early from Jimilangtsho Lake, ascending gradually through rocky terrains and dwarf rhododendron forests.
  • Continue to Simkota Lake for a short, restful stop.
  • Resume trekking with a steady climb toward Labana, enjoying magnificent mountain and valley views.
  • Pass through high-altitude meadows, possibly spotting yak herders.
  • Arrive at the Labana campsite in the late afternoon, preparing for a cold night at the highest point of your trek.
Day 7: Labana to Thimphu

Elevation: 4120 mts – 2320 mts

Distance & Walking Hours: 15 Km, 6-7 hrs

  • Start early from Labana, climbing gradually through alpine meadows with stunning peak views.
  • Descend to Phajoding Monastery, taking a short break to explore and enjoy the serene environment.
  • Continue descending steeply through blue pine and rhododendron forests, passing small settlements.
  • Reach the outskirts of Thimphu in the early afternoon, where a vehicle will transfer you to your hotel.
Day 8: Punakha Excursion

Distance: 72 kms (2:30 hrs)

Elevation: 2334 mts / 1242 mts

  • Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel before embarking on your journey to Punakha, an ancient capital of Bhutan.
  • Stop at Dochula Pass (3100 mts), renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views and the 108 Druk Wangyel Stupas. Take in the serene beauty of the Himalayan landscape and the artistic splendor of the stupas.
  • Upon reaching Lobesa, visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the temple of fertility.
  • Enjoy a delicious lunch.
  • Visit Punakha Dzong, often described as the country's most beautiful fortress. Explore the intricacies of Bhutanese architecture and learn about the historical and cultural significance of this majestic structure.
  • After exploring Punakha, drive back to Thimphu.
Day 9: Departure
  • Enjoy your last breakfast in Bhutan at your hotel, savoring the flavors and reflecting on your journey.
  • After breakfast, your guide will accompany you on the drive to Paro International Airport for your departure.
